The Foundations of Effective Leadership

Leading large-scale hotel operations in a fast-paced resort environment starts with staying organized and keeping communication at the center of everything we do. With so many moving parts, from daily operations to major events, it’s important that the team is aligned on priorities and prepared for anything that may require extra attention.

Equally important is staying flexible. No two days are the same, so being able to adapt quickly while listening to feedback from the team allows us to make informed adjustments in real time. That combination of organization, communication and adaptability helps create a collaborative culture where the team can perform at its best and, ultimately, deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Communication as the Key to Operational Success

Communication is the foundation of everything we do. At Resorts World Las Vegas, with more than 3,500 hotel rooms across three brands and over 5,000 team members, keeping everyone informed and aligned is essential. Whether we’re preparing for a major event, welcoming a large group or managing day-to-day operations, clear communication ensures every department has the information they need to deliver a seamless guest experience. When teams are connected and working toward the same goal, operations run more smoothly and guests feel the difference.

The best solutions come from collaboration. In high-pressure situations, I rely on both fellow leaders and frontline team members because everyone brings a different perspective and area of expertise. Taking the time to listen, assess the situation together and make informed decisions helps us solve challenges quickly while keeping the team engaged and focused. That collaborative approach not only leads to better outcomes but also builds trust and confidence across the operation.’

Maintaining Service Excellence Every Day

Consistency starts with investing in people. Ongoing training, coaching and regular observation help reinforce our service standards while creating opportunities for continuous growth. Guest feedback is another valuable tool.

We regularly share both compliments and opportunities with the team so we can recognize great work, learn from every experience and continue raising the bar. That commitment to continuous improvement helps ensure every guest receives the level of service they expect, no matter where they are on the property.

One of the best ways to develop talent is to encourage team members to gain experience in different roles. Cross-training helps them build new skills, gain a better understand of how departments operate and become more adaptable as business needs evolve.

It also fosters stronger collaboration across teams and gives employees opportunities to advance their careers, which ultimately strengthens the entire operation.
